Historic Tervuren once again marked the arrival of May with its annual Meiboom planting, a festive tradition believed to date back to 1457 — and quite possibly earlier. The town was also filled with the sound of heartening folk songs performed by a Ukrainian women’s choir.
Pachthof Stroykens Set to Reopen on May 1
Duisburg’s community center, Pachthof Stroykens, will reopen on May 1, under the management of two local entrepreneurs, Jeroen Vandenbussche and Tom Spooren. Rooted in the local community, the new operators aim to transform the venue into a vibrant space for connection, culture, and recreation.
Butterflies in Peril in Tervuren
Bernard’s passion for butterflies began at the age of four, when his family moved to the countryside in Poppel, just a stone’s throw from the Dutch border. “My grandfather caught a butterfly and showed it to me. I thought it was wonderful,” recalls Bernard, who has lived in Tervuren since 1995.
