TERVUREN – Cyclists in Tervuren have launched a petition calling for the reinstatement of bike racks in front of the local Carrefour. The ten-space bicycle parking area on Hoornzeelstraat was abruptly disappeared in late February to make way for a car parking space. Explaining his decision, Flemish liberal mayor Thomas Geyns says convenient car parking is vital for local business.

Indian Hut: Tervuren’s Taste of India
“We have all communities here,” says Indian Hut’s Satwinder Singh. Since opening the restaurant in April 2016, Satwinder has embraced Tervuren. “You cannot find a better place than this. There are parks for kids, summer activities, cycling—everything. It’s a very lovely community. When I came here, it felt like another world.”
Arboretum Tervuren: preserving the world’s tree diversity
The Arboretum was created by the Belgian forestry specialist Charles Bommer in 1902 at the request of Leopold II. Spanning approximately 120 hectares, it contains around 700 exotic tree species organised in 40 geographic tree groups.
