Dafydd ab Iago is the editor-in-chief of Tervuren+, a volunteer-driven local news platform focused on in-depth coverage of Tervuren and its community life. Dafydd coordinates editorial work, standards and community reporting across the publication’s bilingual output.

Dafydd has nearly 30 years of experience reporting on European and global politics. He is the founder of Tervuren+, a platform dedicated to bridging gaps in local news coverage, explaining that a news desert is the lack of local and micro-level news. Tervuren+ publishes 4-6 free, targeted, and researched articles per month to keep the town’s various communities informed.

Experience & Role

As editor-in-chief, Dafydd oversees commissioning, editing and publication of articles, working with volunteer reporters and contributors. He is responsible for maintaining editorial standards, corrections and responding to media enquiries.

He serves as president of the Brussels-based foreign correspondents’ association API-IPA and vice-president of the Brussels Press Club. He is also a jury member for the Daphne Caruana Prize for Journalism, honoring investigative journalism that promotes or defends core European values.

Dafydd is multilingual, speaking Dutch, Welsh, and other languages. He studied at the universities of Wales, Vienna, and Oxford, giving him a diverse academic and cultural background.
